Every yacht is a new challenge and an opportunity to improve. My first task is to listen to my interlocutors. Each client has his own personal way of living on board. It is also an honour for me to entertain close links with main economic protagonists of this world and discover their culture and personal views. My role is to understand their desires. Then comes the time to get to the act and convert the concept into drawings and specifications. The contact with the pen is an integral part of the conceptualisation. It also allows me to have a very detailed knowledge of my projects in order to ensure a rigorous control as the projects develop. The documents are then developed with the cabinetmakers. They call me ‘pignolo’ (finicky), and to this day I am not quite sure whether they mean it as a compliment or a criticism! The CAD, still in 2D, allows us to integrate all the technical complexities of the project. Specifications from the naval architect, the shipyard, the various suppliers and sub-contractors are brought together. In this manner the interior layout and design is optimised for a final 3D presentation. |
